Today in the lab students view the skin of onion under the microscope to see plant cells.

2nd Week Update

· By this point,, students should be using their composition notebooks in class every day.

· Our 1st test of the year is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, September 5th and will cover Lab Safety and Lab Equipment. 

Notebook Quizzes  – Fridays 

The quiz covers that week’s Buck Bytes/classwork/labs/homework.    (Students answer Buck Byte (Bellwork) questions in notebook every day at the beginning of class.)

5 - 10 questions are randomly selected and students are allowed to use their notebook.  This should be an easy grade if the students have kept up with their work and completed it each day.

For example, a quiz question would read:  "From Monday, 8/26, what was the answer to Buck Bytes #2?"

What does it take to make your own video game? Check out the history of gaming and then design your very

own game! You will get the chance to play it and show it off to the other campers as well.

NOTE: Space is

limited to 12 participants per section in this camp, so register early!

Robots Rule!

Have you always wanted your own robot? Are you going to be on a Robotics team in the fall? Then this camp

is for you! Using Lego Mindstorms NXT ™, we will learn how robots are programmed and then you will get

to build your very own robot tank that can sense the world around it. NOTE: Space is limited to 12 participants.

The Science Department and SGA are encouraging everyone to "Go Green" by wearing green on Monday, April 22nd for Earth Day!  Remember - Go Green and Keep Buckhorn Clean!

Classroom Updates

We are currently working on the Ecology unit which includes Ch. 18 and Ch. 7 in the textbook.

The Ecology test is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, April 25th.

After this test, we will begin working on portfolios (more information to come) and reviewing until the ARMT, which is May 6 - May 10. 

The comprehensive Pre-AP test is tentatively scheduled for Friday, May 3rd.

Morning Tutoring

Mrs. French has secured six very capable and eager high school students to assist with morning tutoring for BMS students.  Currently, participation is very low. 

If BMS students need help with math, science, social studies, and/or language arts, please encourage them to attend.  The tutors are usually here before 7:20.  Students can come to room 124 as soon as they get off the bus or they are dropped off in the car rider line.  Even if they just need to come in and study for a test, the high school students can help!

Reproductive System Quiz Monday

Students will be quizzed on the Reproductive System on Monday, 3/4.

The quiz will include reproductive organs/functions and fetal development (Ch. 26 Section 2 & 3).

At the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year, Dr. David Copeland, Superintendent of Madison County Schools, held a series of community engagement meetings to meet the stakeholders and to solicit input from the community on moving Madison County Schools forward.  The second meeting in this set is scheduled for:

New Unit & Homework

Our new unit will cover the digestive, nervous & reproductive systems.  The test is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, February 19th.


For tonight, students received a diagram of the digestive system to label.  They were also asked to list the functions of the ten structures that were labeled.
