Homework Alert!

Today in class, students began color-coding pictures of an animal and a plant cell. Most students did not finish, so whatever is left is homework (due Thursday due to field trip tomorrow).

The Characteristics of Living Things & Cells TEST is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, 10/2.

The final notebook quiz of the 9 weeks will be Friday, 10/3.

Homework Alert! Characteristics of Living Things Picture File

§Use pictures (from magazines, printed, drawn, etc.) to create a mini-poster that shows 1 living and 1 nonliving thing.

§Beneath or beside each picture, explain the characteristics that identify why that picture is a living thing or a non-living thing.

§Name in top right corner

Fox - Living Thing

A fox is a living thing because it has lots of cells, reproduces baby foxes, responds to its environment by running away from predators, and it uses energy from the food it eats.

Due Monday! This should not take much time, as the students have notes about the characteristics of living things in their notebooks in which to refer, and they began the assignment in class today.

Microscopes & Scientific Method Test

The Microscopes and Scientific Method Test will be Tuesday, September 9th.
Students will need to label the microscope, describe the function of each part, describe proper use of the microscope, identify and describe the steps of the scientific method, and write a hypothesis in the "I believe...because..." format.
